Mary Hartmann, Founder and Operator of Girl in the Curl Surf Shop located in Dana Point, CA, is a California native who grew up in Dana Point. Mary has surfed at Doheny State Beach since the 70’s. Doheny is her home break, and she maintains a daily presence at the beach.
Mary began her surf career at the age of 10 as an intern at Outer Reef Surf School at Doheny. She founded Swell Time Surf School in 1997, the same year she opened Girl in the Curl Surf Shop. Mary previously created and managed a surf school program for the County of Orange at the Dana Point Youth and Group Facility (1988-1997).
