For
the fourteenth straight year, Doheny State Beach is the readers' choice as
the County's
"Best Camping Site" in the Orange
County Register's 14th Annual Best of Orange County survey. This year, again, Doheny shares the honor with two other State Park campsites at San Onofre and San Clemente. As the writer states, "Oceanfront camping is hard to come by these days, and Doheny is the only place in Orange County where it's available." Please
bookmark this page for future reference.
Surfers
will want to check out The Beach Information
System for the results of the most recent water quality test at their favorite
beach.

California State Parks has closed the Doheny State Beach Visitor Center until further notice. It has been the home of many aquariums and displays where Park visitors have been able to see and learn about the ocean environment. The Gift Store and Park Office have been relocated to the lifeguard headquarters on the beach adjacent to San Juan Creek. |
The Grunion are coming Friday, May 23! They haven't disappointed the past 16 years and this year won't be any exception. Park gates open 8:30 p.m. and a slide show starts at 10:00 p.m. The run itself could begin as early as 11:15 p.m. IMPORTANT NOTE: The Grunion season won't be open so this is an event for observation only. Please leave collection tools at home; eyes and cameras welcome! |
